Last Man Stands – the simple football prediction game
The Premier League 2024/25 season is underway and that means the return of Last Man Stands.
Put simply, you pay £10 to enter and all you have to do is pick a Premier League team to win at the weekend. If they do, you’re through. If they don’t, you’re out. Last person standing scoops the prize. Oh, but once you have picked a team, you cannot use them again!
Half the total pot goes to the winner(s) and half goes to Nottsborough Football Club. The more people that enter, the bigger the pot. We had 112 people last time so £560 to play for and £560 to grassroots football.
Email daniel_ashley@hotmail.com to register and sort out entry fee. The Q&A below should answer any other queries, but feel free to ask Dan if you do need more info. Feel free to invite others.
Deadline for entries is 5pm Monday 23 September.
GOOD LUCK

What is it?
Very simple game – pick a Premier League team to win at the weekend. If they win then you’re through. If they don’t then you’re out. Last one standing takes home half the prize pot. The other half goes to Nottsborough FC. Win or lose, you get to do a bit of football charity work. You hero.
How much?
It’s £10 to enter. The more that enter, the bigger the pot. We had over a 100 players last season and more than £500 in the prize pot.
Sounds ace. How do I enter?
Get your £10 entry fee to me by 5pm on Monday 23 September. Cash or bank transfer is fine. Contact me to arrange – daniel_ashley@hotmail.com You must have your own bona fide email address. No iCloud email addresses accepted.

When does it start?
The competition will start with the weekend Premier League fixtures on 28-30 September. It will always be the weekend fixtures (Fri-Mon). Midweek games don’t count.
What do I have to do?
I will send out the fixtures at the start of each week and you just need to reply to that email with your team to me by 5pm (UK time) on the Thursday. You are only entered when I have sent you the confirmation email. Chase me if you don’t get one.
Once you have picked a team for the weekend you will not be able to select them again. So, if you pick Man City in week 1 and they win, you are through. However, you will not be able to select Man City in any of the following weeks.
What will you do?
I will send out everyone’s predictions on the Friday morning so the keen ones can follow other people’s choices over the weekend – it also allows you to check I have not made a mistake with your entry (that is your responsibility!).
I will send out the results and the next set of fixtures after the weekend’s games. It’ll be either the Monday or Tuesday (depends if there is a Monday night game).
Don’t give me your team selection until I email out the fixtures.
Yeah, but what if……
  • If you forget to enter then you will automatically be given the first team available to you alphabetically. It’s likely to be AFC Bournemouth, so remember to reply in time
  • If there is a tie where the last players all go out in the same week then the prize (half the takings) is split evenly between those players
  • If a Premier League fixture gets abandoned, you go through and you wouldn’t be able to select that side again (it is treated as a win for your chosen side)
  • If the season ends and we are still going the entrants left in the competition after the final weekend of the Premier League season will split the prize (half the takings) evenly
  • If you’re out, you’re out. No buying back in.
Good luck and have fun.
